Holistic massage is a therapeutic, complementary approach to treating full body mental, physical and emotional health. Derived from the Greek word, ‘holos’ meaning whole, it does not claim to heal or resolve any medical conditions, but it can ease symptoms by supporting and nurturing the nervous system. A healthy nervous system can promote long term benefits across the whole body.

A shower the morning of is the only preparation you need to do before attending a massage.
Once you arrive, we’ll talk through your lifestyle, your needs and expectations going into the treatment and any questions you might have.
After we’ve discussed your bespoke treatment, I’ll show you into the treatment room, outline which clothes need removing and the best way to lie on the table. I’ll then leave you alone to do this and cover yourself before I re-enter the room.
Your whole body will always be covered with multiple layers of towels and blankets apart from the body part being massaged.
The treatment will then begin with minimal talking as I think you get the most out of the experience this way, but if you have any questions feel free to ask!
When the session is finished, I’ll let you know (and can gently wake you up if you’ve fallen asleep). I’ll leave you alone to slowly get up, drink a glass of water and get dressed.
We’ll then discuss aftercare before you head out into the rest of your day!

It’s common to feel quite sleepy after a massage, so if you have time for a nap after your appointment, this would be beneficial. In general, having a calm and relaxing day after an appointment is recommended.
Muscles should feel less sore and tight and overall, the body should feel relaxed and at ease. Some nots and long standing muscle aches will benefit from regular treatments to manage symptoms and pain.

Ahead of your appointment, I’ll send you over a consultation form which will ask you a number of questions about your overall health.
Some health conditions such as cancer, broken bones, recent surgery would not be compatible with a holistic massage and I won’t be able to treat you.
For those going through cancer treatment specifically, I recommend finding a practitioner that offers Oncology Massage.
